Author Guidelines
Manuscript preparation, Bluebook 20th Edition citations, and submission requirements for IJLJ.
These guidelines set out how to prepare and submit manuscripts to IJLJ. Authors should review article-type word limits, Bluebook 20th Edition citation requirements, and the required cover-page details before submission.
Eligibility
Law students pursuing the three-year LL.B. as well as the five-year integrated LL.B. programme, students pursuing LL.M. or Ph.D., research associates, academicians, educators, and professionals and practitioners in any field of law are eligible to submit.
Theme
Any topic related to law.
Article types and word limits
The following word limits include footnotes and should be adhered to. The journal may be flexible on the word limit depending on the quality of the article.

Short Articles
1,500–2,500 words, including footnotes
- 2
Long Articles
2,500–4,000 words, including footnotes
- 3
Research Papers
2,000–8,000 words, including footnotes
- 4
Book Reviews
1,000–3,500 words, including footnotes
- 5
Case Comments
1,000–2,500 words, including footnotes
- 6
Legislative Comments
1,000–2,500 words, including footnotes
Abstract
Long articles, short articles and research papers must be accompanied by an abstract not exceeding 300 words.
Manuscript formatting
- File format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx). PDF, other formats, and hard-copy submissions will not be accepted.
- The first page should contain the name of the paper, the name of the authors, and their institutional affiliation, followed by a 300-word abstract.
- The second page should commence with the main body of the manuscript.
- The name of the authors and their institutional affiliation must be mentioned in the manuscript.
- Main body: Times New Roman, font size 12, 1.5 line spacing.
- Footnotes: Times New Roman, font size 10, 1.0 line spacing.
- All headings must have uniform formatting.
Citation style
Texts and footnotes should conform to the Bluebook 20th Edition.
Cover details on the first page
- Name of the author(s)
- Contact number
- The academic year of the course pursuing (if applicable)
- Qualifications (if applicable)
- Institutional affiliation
- Title of the paper
- The type of submission (Long Article, Essay/Short Article, Case Comment, or Legislative Comment)
Submission
All submissions must be emailed to submissions.ijlj@gmail.com, with the subject as “Manuscript Submission” and a declaration to the effect that the manuscript is an original and previously unpublished work of the author/s.
